MUSEUM OF THE GULF COAST INCLUSION/RECOGNITION POLICY

The Museum of the Gulf Coast chronicles the unique history of the Texas/Louisiana Gulf Coast environment. The Museum places special emphasis on the culture of this region and the achievements of those individuals who have made this area their home. Specific Hall of Fame exhibit areas highlight the special accomplishments and contributions that Gulf Coast residents have made in the fields of Music, Sports and Notable People.  The Legacy People Exhibit is another area that focuses on “People” who excelled in other endeavors and will be recognized on the "Legacy People" Kiosk at the museum.

The Legacy People Exhibit includes people from a broad range of areas who may have accomplished remarkable things but may not meet the criteria for the Music, Sports, and Notable People Halls of Fame. To be included in one of these exhibit areas, an individual or group must meet published criteria adopted by the Board of Directors.

Any individual or group is welcome to nominate individuals/groups for inclusion in the Museum of the Gulf Coast. Nominations must be addressed to the Museum Director and must include appropriate documentation demonstrating that the nominee meets the published criteria for recognition. Again, while utilizing the criteria below, produce a document with ALL of the qualifying information and documentation, in detail, to reflect why the person/group you are recommending should be considered for induction into the respective Hall of Fame. Include contact information (for yourself and the person that is being recommended to aid the process (phone #’s, physical address, email address.) If the person is no longer living, provide the same contact information for their next of kin.

After completing the recommendation packet, submit it in person or via mail to the Director of the Museum of the Gulf Coast, 700 Procter St., Port Arthur, TX 77640, or email it to mogc.director@gmail.com. The Director will review all nominations and recommend to the Board those nominations that appear to meet the criteria. The Board of Directors will, in turn, review the documentation and make the final determination.

To be included in one of these exhibit areas, an individual or group must meet published criteria adopted by the Board of Directors. (3) There must be a body of work to go with it, and (4) there must be general public recognition of that work.
