Bart Bragg
Born: October 25 1947 Port Arthur, TX
Bart Bragg of Port Arthur, Texas, is a distinguished photographer whose career spans decades and whose work has left an indelible mark on the Gulf Coast region’s visual history. Born and raised in Port Arthur, Bragg developed his craft under the mentorship of experienced portrait-photographer Frank Cricchio, taking on studio and event assignments that introduced him to the technical and artistic sides of photography. These early experiences formed the foundation for his lifelong devotion to composition, lighting, and the ability to freeze authentic human moments through his lens.

As his career evolved, Bragg became one of Southeast Texas’s most respected visual storytellers. His portfolio includes portraits of civic leaders, local personalities, national figures, and industry workers — from everyday folks to renowned public figures. Among these was his opportunity to photograph President Jimmy Carter, a testament to his ability to navigate both local roots and national stages. Bragg’s work not only expresses local pride but also functions as a visual archive that connects generations to his hometown’s cultural and historic tapestry.

Bragg’s work has been formally recognized by institutions such as the Museum of the Gulf Coast, which honored him for his lifelong commitment to preserving the heritage of Southeast Texas through photography. Far more than mere portraits, his images document a region defined by resilience, transformation, and community. Through his lens, Bart Bragg has ensured that the story of Port Arthur and its people will continue to be seen, remembered, and appreciated for years to come.
