Bob Pollard attended Hebert High School, Beaumont, Texas. He went to college at Texas Southern University and Weber State in Ogden, Utah. In 1971, he entered the NFL in the 11th round, 262nd pick in the draft. Pollard played the position of Defensive Tackle. In the NFL, he played for the New Orleans Saints from 1971 to 1977 and the St. Louis Cardinals from 1978 to 1981. In 1971, he was one of 16 NFL football players honored by the then-Mayor, Ken Ritter of Beaumont, TX, with a key to the city.
His career accomplishments include being named the 1976 and 1977 Defensive Captain for the Saints. In his Career, he has been credited with 57 sacks, 14 fumble recoveries, and one defensive touchdown. He played seven seasons of his 11-year career for the Saints. In 1995, Bob Pollard was inducted into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame, and his Saints’ jersey, number 82, was retired.
Before being drafted by the Saints, the Beaumont, Texas, native stayed close to home after high school and began his college football career at Texas Southern University in Houston before transferring to Weber State in Utah.
