Halls of Fame
The Museum of the Gulf Coast houses three galleries with notable personalities of the region. The Music Hall of Fame has more than 80 musicians representing a wide array of genres, and includes Janis Joplin. The Sports Legends Gallery features more than 75 area athletes. The Notable People Gallery contains 40 plus individuals who have achieved national and/or international recognition in a professional endeavor.

Pompeiian Villa
Visits must be scheduled in advance. Call 409-982-7000 to arrange a time to tour the facility. A guide from The Museum of the Gulf Coast will assign a time.
This historic house was built in 1900 for Isaac Ellwood of DeKalb, Illinois. It was designed to be reminiscent of villas in ancient Pompeii, a Roman city destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.


Funding has been provided to the Museum of the Gulf Coast from the National Endowment of the Humanities (NEH) as part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act of 2021
