Leanne Moore

Leanne Moore was born in Port Arthur to Marjorie and Lee Moore. She attended school in the Port Arthur School District and graduated with honors in 1971 from Thomas Jefferson High School. After graduation, she moved to Austin and attended the University of Texas, majoring in Accounting. She received a Bachelors of Business Administration in 1975 and also received her CPA certificate.
Her first job out of college was in Houston with Ernst and Ernst, which at that time was one of the Big 8 CPA firms. Realizing she had different aspirations, she moved to Los Angeles and lived with her cousin, actress Mary Kay Place. Leanne used her accounting degree to work as a production accountant on feature films, such as “Diner”, “Into the Night”, “Children of a Lesser God” and all three of the
“Back to the Future” films, directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Michael J. Fox.
She then moved into production for Steven Spielberg’s company, Amblin Entertainment and Turner Network Television and produced six television movies written by playwrights, such as Horton Foote, David Mamet and Arthur Miller, with stars such as William H. Macy, James Earl Jones, Jennifer Connelly and Mary McDonnell. This group of movies garnered several Ace Cable awards, including the Humanitas Prize for Best Television Movie for “The Water Engine”. Leanne produced several other television movies for TNT, two of which were nominated for Emmys,
“The Heidi Chronicles”, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and “Pirates of Silicon Valley”, starring Noah Wyle. Leanne also produced many network television movies for CBS and Fox, including “A Match Made in Heaven” with John Stamos and Della Reese.
She produced “The Elian Gonzalez Movie”, which was nominated for an ALMA award for Best Television Movie. She also produced the mini-series, “Supernova” in Cape Town, South Africa for the Hallmark Channel, starring Luke Perry and Peter Fonda, which to date is one of the highest watched mini-series for Hallmark. Leanne next moved into television series production and she co-produced several pilots, including “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” for the Fox Network. She also co-produced the television series
“Zoey 101” for Nickelodeon” and
“Side Order of Life” for Lifetime. Recently, she co-produced the pilot and the first season of the hit CBS series,
“The Mentalist”, starring Simon Baker. Now working on the second season of the show, it consistently ranks in the top three scripted television dramas and is shot at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, CA.
