Summary of Exhibits
The Museum of the Gulf Coast displays a wide range of exhibits which interpret the heritage of the Gulf Coast including history, natural history, fine and decorative art and popular culture. Highlights include the largest indoor mural in the Southwest depicting the history of the region from prehistory to the discovery of oil at Spindletop. Also featured are the original fresnel lens of the Sabine Banks lighthouse and two galleries devoted to notable musicians and athletes.

Being Andy Warhol

On loan from the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum in Lafayette, Being Andy Warhol is a series of photographs taken by Andy Warhol during the 1970s and 1980s. The photographs illustrate Warhol’s preoccupation with fame, his use of the camera both as a social equalizer and a social diary, the method behind his technical process, and finally, his construction of identity as a commodity.

Museum Salutes Military Personnel & Families



The Museum of the Gulf Coast announced its participation with Blue Star Museums, a partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and more than 800 museums across America to offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2010.
