Robert Giblin
(1952)

Robert Giblin was born in Omaha, Nebraska, to Dr. H.J. and Viola Giblin. Once H.J. had finished medical school, he moved his family back to the Gulf Coast where he'd grown up. Robert graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School in 1971. Giblin had lettered in both football and golf in high school and was chosen All-District wide receiver. Giblin attended the University of Houston from 1971 to 1974 on a scholarship. There he switched to cornerback and lettered his three varsity years in football. He was chosen All-American defensive back in both 1973 and 1974. The following year Giblin was drafted by the New York Giants as a defensive back. He played for the club through the 1976 season then moved to the St. Louis Cardinals for the 1977 and 1978 seasons. Following his football career, Giblin returned to college, graduating from Lamar University in 1980 and from the University of Houston College of Law in 1982.
