Ben Weber

Southeast Texas native and professional baseball player Ben Weber learned to play baseball at an early age. A native of Groves, Weber realized the ultimate baseball player's dream when his team the Anaheim Angels won the World Series against the San Francisco Giants in 2002. Weber's pitching helped end a 41-year, uninterrupted stretch of non-championship baseball for the Angels. Born in Port Arthur in 1969, the relief pitcher's career had its beginnings with little league baseball in Groves and took many turns before landing a contract with the Angels. After graduating from Port Neches-Groves High School, Weber went on to the University of Houston. He later spent several years pitching in the minor leagues and overseas before joining the major leagues, first with the San Francisco Giants and then with the Anaheim Angels. As of 2003, his pitching career continued with the Anaheim Ball Club. Weber resides in Beaumont with his wife Marisa and their children.
