Born: April 4, 1944 - Beaumont, Texas

Songwriter and guitarist. Attended Beaumont schools and Lamar University. Writer of Twenty-five number on hit songs. Named "Songwriter of the Year in 1985 by the Nashville Songwriters Association and inducted into the Nashville songwriters Association Hall of Fame. Best known compositions include "Louisiana Saturday Night," "Amanda," "Good Ole Boys Like Me," "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On," "Gone Country" and "Rage On."
