Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts may choose one of the following workshops:They Came to TexasStep into the past with the museum's realistic Sparks Family Pioneer Cabin dating from the mid-1800s. Youth will become pioneers as they don period clothing and identify pioneer artifacts. Youth also engage in hands-on activities that convey pioneer life such as candle making, butter churning and making a traditional pioneer toy.

Sounds of MusicThe rich cultural crossroads of the Gulf Coast has created a unique mix of musical talent representing nearly every genre including rock, blues, soul, pop, western swing, jazz and country, and more than sixty musicians are featured in the Museum's Music Hall of Fame including The Big Bopper and Janis Joplin. This workshop will explore this region's musical impact and allow youth to discover their own musical talents, make their own musical instruments and more!.

ArtasticUnleash the artist within us all with a lesson on world renowned artist and Port Arthur native Robert Rauschenberg. Youth will become proteges of Rauschenberg as they explore the museum's permanent gallery of his work, study his techniques and seek artistic inspiration. Youth will also try their hand at some of Rauschenberg's most innovative techniques including silk-screening, collage and found art.

Terms & Conditions for Workshops:All workshops must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance and must be conducted Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Evening hours and weekends are available on request. A deposit of $10 is due 10 business days before the date of the program. A confirmation form will be faxed upon receipt of the deposit. The remaining fee will be due on the day of the visit. The museum accepts cash, check or credit. Deposits will not be refunded in the event of a cancellation.
Brownie and Junior workshops lasts approximately 2 hours and Interest Project Workshops last approximately 3 hours. Workshops do not include a tour of the entire museum. However, if you have additional time, your group is welcome to tour the rest of the museum at no additional charge.

General Tours: In addition to workshops, Girl Scouts are welcome to schedule a general tour of the Museum. We offer a guided tour that delves into this regions rich history and ends with a scavenger hunt and prizes. All tours cost $2 a scout and need to be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance with the tour coordinator at (409)982-7000.
