Community of Cultures Series

In January of 2001, the Museum of the Gulf Coast initiated an ongoing series of exhibits and programs entitled Community of Cultures: Ethnicity of the Gulf Coast. The purpose was to celebrate the cultural diversity of the Gulf Coast region and bring awareness to the topics of ethnicity and multiculturalism. We began the series appropriately with an exhibit focusing on the French and Cajuns. Since then we have hosted exhibits and programs highlighting Italian Americans, Mexican Americans and Latinos, African Americans, Vietnamese Americans and Middle Eastern Americans. If you are interested in developing a future exhibit or program related to the ethnicity of the Gulf Coast or if you are looking for information about a specific ethnic community please feel free to contact the Museum at 409-982-7000.
